Retweet on Twitter

As we all know, Twitter is at its acme among the other micro blogging sites. It allows the user to send and read text-based messages with a character limit of 140; thereby it serves as “SMS of the Internet”. Since its inception in 2006, Twitter has attained a massive growth and notability among the Internet users. Services like Twitter show the power of communication at a rapid pace. So to say, even a step ahead of blogs in delivering information in seconds. It is a nice application to meet like-minded people and to talk one to one.

This is one of the new applications introduced by Twitter. This blog speaks on how to retweet on Twitter? The retweet (or “RT”) allows Twitter users to share the best links and tweets they find from the people they are following. They can copy and paste the original tweet and send it out. Users usually put “RT” plus the tweet originator’s username at the beginning of the tweet to give credit to the original person. Here’s an example:

The advantage of Retweet is that the most popular retweets tend to reflect the favourite articles and most important stories of the entire Twitter community. This can be great if you want to find important articles, read useful blog posts, or when trying to track any emerging trends.

Obama's healthcare plan may help Indian IT players

Obama’s stimulus plan proposes to allocate $150 billion to healthcare. Of this, nearly $20 billion is proposed for healthcare IT alone, most of which is expected to spent on Electronic Health Records (EHR). This allocation, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, is opening up the healthcare IT market like never before. It is bringing in a host of opportunities for EHR vendors, healthcare IT service providers and hospital systems.

If the American Recovery and Reinvestment plan as proposed by Obama goes live, it will help hospitals maintain a digital record of the patients. If a patient decides to change his/her healthcare provider, the hospital can easily share the EHR with the next healthcare provider, thus ensuring portability for the EHRs

Azimuth ‘s Independence Day celebration

August 15 is a memorable day in the life of every Indian on earth; it’s the great day when our country got its freedom from the stranglehold of the British. Since then the red letter is celebrated with great pride and honor across the length and breath of India. Cultural programs and flag-hoisting ceremonies are the predominant affair of the day, while colorful kites and fireworks fill the sky in the evening, to symbolize freedom. You can feel you at the top of the world when you wear the tri- colored flag on your dress, the otherwise suppressed flag for 300 years without its due respect until the midnight of August 15, 1947 when it was hoisted. People indulge themselves in remembering the heroes of the freedom struggle and pay homage to them. Azimuth made colorful greetings and bedazzled the entire office with flags everywhere. It aroused patriotism and the real mood of the ceremonial celebration. Azimuth believes in celebrating all major functions to bring integrity and brotherhood ness among the employees.

AZIMUTH AT ‘JOB FAIR 2009-CHENNAI’

In the recently concluded ‘Job Fair 2009’, Azimuth made its prominent presence by putting up a stall along with those of other BPO firms like Perot Systems, Sutherland Global Services, Reliance BPO etc.

The global economic slowdown has already begun to show the signs of withdrawal and many MNCs have stopped firing and started hiring. Against this backdrop, TECHRUIT, the human resource consultancy in Chennai organized a fair titled ‘Job Fair 2009’ at Queen Mary’s College, Chennai on July 4 and 5. Even though it was not an exclusive IT job fair, several IT and ITeS companies took part and offered job opportunities. The fair was meant for the students passed out between 2006 and 2009 and nearly 750 graduates from various streams were expected to get recruited with a monthly pay ranging between Rs.5,000/- and Rs.12,000/-.

A resourceful team from Azimuth, Puducherry comprising Mr. John (Manager - HR), Ms. Arunmozhi (Manager - Azimuth Academy) and Ms. Vithya (Marketing Executive), stayed in the city and made the participation fruitful. They addressed nearly 500 candidates in two days and made them aware of Azimuth in terms of its (i) undisputed position in the healthcare process outsourcing industry, (ii) leadership in providing quality MT training at affordable cost and (iii) staffing process and capacity. The team also threw light on the current scenario of MT industry and its employment potentiality.

Medical Transcription – A Recession Proof Industry

The meaning for the word “recession” has been felt and experienced by many in India and elsewhere in the past 2 years. Very few industries are recession proof and health care and health care documentation industry is one such industry that have once again proved that it is immune to recession.

Though, the Medical Transcription (MT) industry has crossed a decade presence in India and an estimated 30 000 professionals are working in this Industry but the message of numerous job opportunities available in the MT industry has not reached the masses.

Many job aspirants think that Medical Transcription job openings are for medical or science student and in reality it is not so. Anybody who has good English comprehension skills can become a Medical Transcriptionist after undergoing 4 months of training.

In the US, each doctor has to prepare a report about his patient care for insurance and record purposes. Since the doctors' time is very costly, they normally use a specialist called a medical transcriptionist to prepare their patient report.

Unlike our forefathers, the present generation is depending more on the healthcare system to have a peaceful life and this in turn triggers in to more healthcare documentation (Medical Transcription) work for us. Specifically in the US, the entire healthcare industry is based on Insurance and detailed medical records are needed for processing insurance claims and therefore there is huge demand for Medical Transcriptionist.

So, do MTs just type what they hear?

Not if they want to stay employed for any length of time. It is an MTs job, even on the most verbatim of accounts, to be able to understand the terminology, correctly spell the terminology, fix glaring grammatical errors (verb tenses, etc.), correctly punctuate, spot any inconsistencies (to include anything from male/female, left/right to incorrect or impossible medication dosages).

If you are not asked to transcribe verbatim, it then becomes your job to perform all the tasks listed above in addition to rephrasing difficult sentences, moving text around to fit under the correct headings, deleting redundancies, expanding acronyms (you must know what those acronyms stand for), and any other thing that is requested of you on that particular account.

An MT may also be required to find the correct spelling of doctors' names, ensure a carbon copy of the report goes to whomever the dictator requests, spell the names of cities (which you may have never heard of) as well as local schools, stores, etc. All of this may require an extensive amount of research.

As well as all this, an MT is required to know how to format this legal medical document correctly, as per the doctor's, clinic's, or hospital's instructions. You will have to use proper headings, subheadings, numbering, etc.

What do doctors dictate?

Doctors dictate about anything from runny noses to highly specialized and technical surgical procedures, as well as letters to other doctors, letters to patients, notes to schools to get students out of PE or other activities. Radiologists and pathologists dictate test results and imaging results. You may have to transcribe echocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, sleep studies, physical therapy progress notes, and even expiration (death) summaries.

What does a medical transcriptionist do exactly?

A medical transcriptionist's job, in basic language, is to turn a doctor's dictated speech into a properly formatted and properly spelled text document. There are many ways of going about that task which depend on the method the doctor uses to dictate, the method used to get the audio to the transcriptionist, and the method used to get the completed document back to the doctor.

Work@home

With several transcription companies setting up their base in India, medical transcription has become a lucrative and feasible option for those looking for home-based careers

Until recently home-based medical transcription was popular only among US based home transcriptionist's. Now it's slowly gaining a foothold in India. That's good news for people who are compelled to work from home, either for health or for family reasons, and also for people who are looking at a second job to supplement their income.

What you need:

To start as a home-based transcriptionist you need
have:
1. A Windows PC with at least the following configurations:
Pentium IV, 256 MB SDRAM, 20 GB hard disk, 52X CDROM drive, sound card with amplifier, and Internet access.

2. Stereo headphones

3. 56.6 kbps external modem

4. Foot pedal

5. UPS

6. Licensed software - English dictionary, medical dictionary, drugs reference dictionary, medical spellchecker, equipment glossary, abbreviation dictionary, etc.

Future of medical transcription

With the demand for quality medical transcription services rising, medical transcription (MT) outsourcing jobs seem to have a bright and secure future. Medical transcription is the most outsourced job in the healthcare industry and is provided with the aim of reducing both time and cost factors involved in the daily documenting of patient details. As the healthcare industry in the United States is closely associated with insurance firms, time-bound processing of patient records is essential for the smooth functioning of both healthcare and insurance firms.

Almost all US based healthcare facilities find medical transcription outsourcing to be highly beneficial and these services have now become an integral part of their daily functioning. By outsourcing these jobs, healthcare providers can concentrate more on providing better infrastructure and facilities for patients and have to worry less about hiring and training medical transcriptionists.

With most transcription facilities functioning according to HIPAA regulations, all patient records remain secure, confident and safe. To produce good quality patient records, most of these healthcare firms have employed highly skilled and experienced professionals in healthcare documentation, and their skills and knowledge play a key role in the success of these transcription firms.

India and Philippines are two emerging powers in the medical transcription field and are set to become the hub of future healthcare documentation jobs. The availability of a vast pool of graduates who are computer-literate and fluent in English and the turnaround time of 24 hrs for submitting assignments, are factors working in favor of the growth of healthcare transcription firms in these countries.

Right from its initial stages, the medical transcription industry has been undergoing revolutionary changes regarding the equipments and technologies used. From the initial typewriters and Dictaphone transcribers to high-end computers, the healthcare documentation industry is always moving with the latest trends in technology. The quality in operations and the flexibility of the industry in adopting new technologies all ensure that the medical transcription community will have a long and bright future

Medical transcription

Medical transcription is the process where one accurately and swiftly transcribes medical records dictated by doctors and others, including history and physical reports, clinic notes, office notes, operative reports, consultation notes, discharge summaries, letters, psychiatric evaluations, laboratory reports, x-ray reports and pathology reports.

It involves receiving dictation by tape, digital system or voice file, and using earphones, a foot pedal for start-stop control and a word processing program. It sometimes includes the use of a printer and sometimes a modem. A variety of word-processing systems are used. It requires good listening and language skills, computer skills and knowledge of medical terms.

AR Rahman brings Oscar glory to India

[Source: NDTV.COM]
It's a big day for India, as music maestro A.R. Rahman has become the first Indian composer to scoop an Oscar for his music in Slumdog Millionaire.

This is the first time that an Indian has won more than one nomination in Oscar history and also the first time an Indian music director has won the prestigious award.

Having won the Golden Globe and the BAFTA, the Oscars represented the final lap in Slumdog's race for recognition. Hot on the heels of his BAFTA success, Rahman was nominated in the Best Original Score and the Best Original Song categories for the Oscars.

The other nominations in the Best Original Score category were Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), James Newton Howard (Defiance), Danny Elfman (Milk) and Thomas Newman (WALL-E).

Anticipating the award, Rahman had said that if he wins the award, it would be a "great honour" and would help him "do bigger things".

Well now that he has brought home the coveted trophy, it's a dream come true not only for the music maestro but also for billions of people back home, who've been waiting eagerly for Rahman to get the award.

Pak players seek compensation for IPL ban

Pakistan cricketers are hoping for compensation from their board after being barred from taking place in the Indian Premier League this year for political reasons, according to a report.

The affected players had sent a letter to Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari, who is also patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board, saying the government's ban on its players taking part in the lucrative IPL was an unnecessary initiative. The newspaper quoted an unnamed Pakistan player confirming that a letter had been sent to Zardari asking for compensation

If the IPL had moved first to ban Pakistani players, they would have had "a golden opportunity to demand a reasonable compensation from the IPL organizers" but the government's pre-emptive move had negated that opportunity. Afridi ,the highest paid Pakistan player in last year's IPL was signed for $675,000 by Hyderabad's Deccan Chargers

Pakistan's foreign ministry ruled earlier this month that the political environment was not conducive for Pakistan players to take part in the IPL given last year's Mumbai terrorist attacks which India had blamed on Pakistani militants. Those attacks also prompted India to call off a scheduled tour to Pakistan.

Kiran Karnik ‘s comment about Satyam’s state

Mr.Karnik, who is a former Nasscom president said that Satyam computers did require grants from the government or any bail out package

On Monday, government sources indicated that they would bail out the company but CNN-BN has learnt that it will only play facilitator, organising short-term loans which Satyam desperately needs.

“We are discussing with the government and the Law Board as to whether in this situation we can defer them,” says Mr.Karnik

Karnik admitted that the IT giant is short of cash reserves and there is an immediate need to get some money to ensure the smooth functioning of Satyam.
In the current circumstances the regulators might excuse them, but the bigger issue is really funds.

With the government bailout looking bleak, the company might have to turn to big investors like ICICI, LIC and HDFC for a loan to tide over.

Satyam Scam: The future of India Inc.

Satyam Computer Services chairman B Ramalinga Raju’s admission of fudging the company’s accounts has put Indian IT industry in a delicate situation. The corporate governance in India has become a debatable topic. Satyams brand image was already tarnished as the World Bank has stopped its relation with Satyam

Once the resignation letter was submitted by Ramalinga Raju to the board and the admisson of the that the Satyam's balance sheets was inflated to Rs. 5040 crores inflation in the balance sheet, the Satyam shares has gone a record low of Rs 30. News of the scandal — quickly compared with the collapse of Enron — sent jitters through the Indian stock market, and the benchmark Sensex index fell more than 5 percent. Shares in Satyam fell more than 70 percent.

The damage will not be limited to the technology sector but also on the India Inc.’s credibility, rather than brand India IT. It also hit the stock market, which was already in a bearish face. The scandal raised questions over accounting standards in India as a whole, as observers asked whether similar problems might lie buried elsewhere. The risk premium for Indian companies will rise in investors’ eyes, said Nilesh Jasani, India strategist at Credit Suisse
Satyam serves as the back office for some of the largest banks, manufacturers, health care and media companies in the world, handling everything from computer systems to customer service. Clients have included General Electric, General Motors, NestlĂ© and the United States government. In some cases, Satyam is even responsible for clients’ finances and accounting.

This is a clear blow to the Indian IT dream. Satayam’s scam has become the biggest frauds in recent times. The fate of the employees, freshers, shareholders, FII s, the benefiters of the Byraju foundation are all at Stake.
